Client: John Sisk & Son Limited | Location: Birmingham | Value: £110 million

When John Sisk & Son commenced the construction of the tallest residential tower block in the heart of Birmingham, they trusted Rubix Consulting to oversee the Temporary Works package for the landmark scheme. The concrete structure is a 42storey skyscraper which comprises 481 apartments and a 200metre podium running track.

The dedicated team at Rubix Consulting initially assisted during the enabling works by confirming piling platform requirements and advising on ground improvement and testing methods to achieve the required bearing strength. The platform was also used by plant and machinery including a crawler crane, various mobile cranes, and concrete pumps, all of which were checked by Rubix Consulting for bearing capacity.

During the construction of the concrete superstructure, Rubix Consulting checked and approved the formwork and falsework proposals for casting the lift and stair cores, walls, columns, and slabs. Further support was provided by advising on early concrete striking strengths and backpropping requirements, which assisted the project by ensuring that the construction of the complex frame stayed on track.
