Victoria House, Runcorn

Client: Bardsley Construction | Location: Runcorn

The challenging refurbishment project involved the construction of 22 apartments, including duplex and loft style units. In addition, eight new-build houses with a new access road, dedicated car parking and external works were also constructed. Previously a hospital, the new development has remained true to the original character of the building and the façade refurbishment works are a great testament to this.

To enable conversion from a hospital to residential units, significant internal, structural modifications had to be made including the removal of load bearing walls, removal of existing floors and formation of new openings in load bearing walls. Rubix Consulting were entrusted with providing Temporary Works for structural modifications, all of which had to be robust but at the same time, suited for use in aged structure in need of strengthening works.
