Rubix were delighted to assist the Winvic team during the project, which involved S278 works to create a new roundabout and new combined pedestrian and cycleway bridge across the A38. The scheme also required major earthworks, construction of internal roads and utilities.
A major element of the temporary works involved the construction of a 60m span pedestrian footbridge over the A38.
The bridge was assembled offline whilst being supported by temporary towers. Once assembly was completed, the bridge was driven into position using self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT).
Rubix were responsible for overseeing the majority of the temporary works elements which included the support towers, bridge saddle, route for SPMTs, working platforms for cranes and slope stability assessments.
